At the request of one of our clients, we started implementing an EDI connection. This will ultimately automate the entire workflow between Transcargo and the client, from start to finish.
EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange. It was developed to allow computer applications to communicate with each other, resulting in increased efficiency and reduced administration costs. In general terms, EDI is the standardized exchange of data in electronic form. EDI is in use wherever a direct exchange of data takes place between computers. The advantages for us - and for the client - include cost savings and the improvement of the internal working methods. Moreover, we can adjust company objectives, focusing on new products, services, and market expansion. In concrete terms, this means that we can give the client up-to-date information, such as the time at which the goods will be delivered, proof of receipt, and reports on matters such as delivery reliability and figures relating to the damage-free delivery of goods.
If this pilot scheme is as successful as we expect it to be, Transcargo will certainly also use EDI in future with other clients.
