Transcargo BV works with a variable diesel surcharge. In view of the development of current diesel prices (see accompanying graph) we would like to explain once again how we calculate this surcharge. Many factors affect global oil and diesel prices. Unfortunately, we have no influence over these. In order to provide you with the best possible service and to ensure that you know what to expect each month, we inform our customers on the first working day of each month of the rates that will apply for that month.
Our general terms and conditions includes a diesel clause for that purpose: for every rise or fall in the average diesel price in the previous month in relation to the reference price, we will adjust our diesel surcharge upwards or downwards by 1 percent. In other words, a 5% rise or fall in the average diesel price will result in a 1% rise or fall in the transport rate.
