Roermond, 14 November 2013 | Jan Jansen, company owner: “Transcargo BV has been your partner in international freight forwarding, storage and transhipment, and value added logistics for a quarter of a century now – a proud accomplishment in this turbulent economic climate. In recognition of this we have compiled a special edition newsletter presenting our employees’ recollections of the past, views of the present and visions for the future. On to the next 25 years!”
Wim Ramaekers - Sales
“Transcargo is defined by a personal approach that puts the client first. The Transcargo method has changed over the years with the rise of automation. This has resulted in simplified work processes and fewer operations and has made it much easier to track the status of a shipment. It also gives us faster access to the necessary management information. Our strategy for the coming years is to consolidate and expand our existing client base and extend our services to and from all countries, not just those in Europe. Transcargo has given me the opportunity to achieve my personal goals, particularly in the field of organisation, automation, marketing and sales.
Harry Reijnders - Planning
“Our work area has changed over the years. In the past, the Roermond area was the start or end of a ride. Now, we’re just as likely to drive from Poland to Spain or from Romania to the Czech Republic. Clients often have additional equipment requirements and there’s more pressure to send full and partial shipments on time. Last year I started using sprinters on a regular basis for smaller shipments – something we never used to do in the past. All employees have a number of ‘regular’ clients, which creates a bond between our staff and our clients. To us, these bonds are just as important as upholding the business end of things. It is also important to create strong bonds with our carriers. After all, the agreements I make with my clients are in fact executed by the carrier: it’s his job to make good on our promises. We have an excellent relationship with our charters and we have a number of regular carriers on whom we can always rely. To me, Transcargo is a great company with a great work environment and great colleagues. Working in a small team like this is much more personal and direct than working for a larger firm. You have the freedom to work independently while being part of a wonderful team!”
Ruud Palmen - Warehouse
“Our workplace has changed over the years. All employees are now capable of performing all the necessary tasks, which helps us offer our clients greater flexibility. We’re a really close team! With the rise of automation, our clients can check their inventory status at all times of the day or night. This wasn’t possible before. Previously, clients would receive an email or inventory list once a week; now they can respond to their inventory status immediately. The crisis has made clients much more critical, yet we’ve managed to retain most of our clients over the years. We’ve also seen former clients return to Transcargo. The ADR storage facility will offer better storage and transhipment facilities for new and old clients alike. Transcargo is a family business and we all understand the value of our team. Although this relationship creates a great work atmosphere, it doesn’t mean we always agree with each other. That being said, Transcargo always listens to its employee’s opinions.”
Rik Verheesen - Finance
“A lot has changed in the field of automation. These days, most companies simply couldn’t operate without it. We’ve seen some huge developments over the years. Transcargo, for example, uses customised software that can be fully tailored to our needs and the needs of our clients. Thanks to the reports this system generates, a significant proportion of our work is managed independently. I started working for Transcargo in April 2003. Since then, huge strides have been taken in the field of automation. Transcargo has short lines of communication, which allows us to take quick action. As part of the credit management and invoicing team, fast turnover times are an important part of my daily work; particularly when it comes to paying bills and sending invoices on time. We all want to get paid as quickly as possible and a positive attitude and a genuine interest in my work certainly contribute to this.”
